   Cowandilla Primary School

Education for Sustainability

Climate Change has come about as a result of over consumption and pollution by humans.

Students are learning about the elements of an ecological footprint. They are systematically focussing on energy, water, waste, biodiversity and transport in order to reduce the school’s ecological footprint. They are engaged in excursions to a wind farm, permaculture farm, recycling depots, energy efficient buildings, the solar bus and rivers & wetlands.

The school has an Environment Policy, common among the Bright Futures schools. Action plans for energy, resource recovery and water are in place to monitor and reduce our consumption and to increase the biodiversity on the school grounds.
